Electrical Engineer
Electrical engineers create, research and test the development of such electrical products as navigation equipment, radar and equipment that generates power. To work in this field, you need to have a Bachelor of Science degree in either electronics or electrical engineering. Programs may offer working experience in addition to classroom studies. According to the BLS, from 2010-2020, jobs for electrical engineers are projected to grow six percent, which is slower than average. The BLS also reports that electrical engineers earned a median annual salary of about $86,000 per year in 2011.
Mechanical Engineer
Mechanical engineers study problems to see how they can be solved with the use of a mechanical device. In order to become a mechanical engineer, you need to have a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering. From 2010-2020, employment opportunities for mechanical engineers were expected to grow nine percent, which is also slower than average, according to the BLS. In 2011, the median salary for mechanical engineers was $79,000 per year.
